Discipline, 2.0

Have you read this post by Kate Conner?

I'm not quite sure what to do with these words, halfway through my year of discipline, and coming off two weeks of vacation wherein I enacted pretty much zero discipline. Make that several months wherein the discipline of January has made a slow slide into the blah of July.

Don't misunderstand; I'm not chastising myself. Maybe I should be, but I'm not.

But in the middle of a work summer that is the busiest in recent memory; in the middle of our house being on the market; in the middle of an emotional drought--I need something.

"And while juggling, balancing, and multi-tasking is a great way to survive, it’s no way to live."

It's no way to live.

"This life of empty fatigue will wear a person slap out.  I am not aiming for perfection or for having it all; those are death-traps.  I am aiming to grow in self-control, to find rules that work, so that as I step into this new season of life, I can trade multi-tasking for fully present.  Surviving for thriving."

In the middle of this blah July, I'm trying to figure out what that looks like for me.

Seems like a good place to start! (Mrs. Connor's blog, I mean.)
