Miscellaneous

The job is going really well. It's not stressful, but it's still interesting. My boss is great--very understanding and flexible. I went to lunch with Aaron yesterday and it ended up taking an hour and a half (my lunch is supposed to be an hour), and even though he's said several times that it's fine for me to take a long lunch or come in late or leave early, etc., as long as I make up the time, I still apologized for being late. He emphatically told me it's not a problem at all, he's glad we got to have lunch together. Wow. SO unlike certain other departments at Baylor of whom I will not speak. And to top it off, the money is nice. We paid bills the other day and had money left over. It's great!

On top of the flexibility, I have an hour-long lunch that I can often use to do school work. On top of that, I am not worn out most days when I get home, so I've still got brainpower and energy to do stuff. It really is a good gift.

On a completely different subject, I had a dream Sunday afternoon about something (I don't remember quite what it was about), but when I woke up I had an idea for my next story. Y'know, when my current one is finished...in three years. Anyway, it's another fairy tale-type story. A girl...excuse me, a young woman...finds an empty book. Whatever she writes in it comes true, so she sets out to write her own love story, complete with prince. The only problem is, as any good writer, her characters develop minds of their own and won't do what she planned for them to do. And, of course, her life follows suit. I actually, for about 15 seconds, considered participating in NaNoWriMo again this year, but I just don't think I can reasonably do it. Maybe after I graduate. In any case, I'm excited about having this idea to mull over for a while because it feels right. I've tried to think of other story ideas (after all, if I'm going to be a wildly successful author I'll need more than one book) and they were all too forced. But this...this is right. It's comfortable. It's exciting. It's got so much potential.

Anyway, that's all I've got for now. Except I'm ready for fall weather. Last week was great; this week is stupid.

Isn't it great when an idea comes to you like that? I wish it happened to me that easy. I'm still fleshing out my new story. I LOVE it though, and it's consistently gaining depth. I'll share the story with you soon.
I plan on blogging soon. I have so much to blog about.
